Uptown/Edgewater blackout, power outage
According to several Chicago police officers, the electrical power went out from Argyle to Bryn Mawr on Sheridan Road.
The outage seemed to be isolated to portions of Uptown and Edgewater.
The power failure was likely caused when a manhole exploded at 1019 West Balmoral Avenue near Balmoral and Sheridan, in the Edgewater neighborhood.
At 2:15 a.m., the wires inside the manhole were on fire.
ComEd was notified.
At 2:48 a.m., police notified ComEd a second time.
ComEd reportedly told officials they did not have an estimated time of arrival.
The manhole was re-covered and power was restored around 3:29 a.m.

Wonder if it had anything to do with all the work they're doing on the road there? Resurfacing or something. Might be a lot of people late to work this morning...
