Lakeview: Man choked and robbed on Halsted Street
Around 12 a.m., a man was mugged on the 3200 block of North Halsted Street near Halsted and Belmont Avenue.
The victim said two black men choked him and stole his cell phone.
One thief is 19 to 20-years-old, approximately 5'10', and was wearing a black and white shirt with horizontal stripes. His hair was styled in an Afro.
The second offender is approximately 24-years-old, 6'1", and 185 to 195 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing.
Both suspects were last seen running westbound on Belmont Avenue towards the Red Line station.
NOTE: One of the offenders involved in the June 1, 2011, pepper spray robbery on the 700 block of West Aldine Avenue, was also wearing an Afro.

Either call 911 or watch BoysTown become a ghost town and businesses fold up shop. People down there know EXACTLY what a thug looks like, acts like and how they dress. Call 911.
ReplyDeleteApparently the usual suspects have found a fertile hunting ground with vulnerable prey.
ReplyDelete"Lake View" - two words.
ReplyDeleteFour words: Start your own blog.
ReplyDeleteTowanda, I usually think your rants are a little over the top but your comment of "rose colored glasses" in a prior post hits the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteI have prior experience with this scenario on Halsted that happened in another Neverland and, until there's a murder, everyone is going to "plead the fifth".
I'm not one of those "readers" into body language but my inquiry with one of the big boys on the block as to what's going on out there resulted in an arms crossed, head turned, one word answer. If you looked up "denial" in the dictionary his picture could have been posted next to the word. It's all about a $ in Chicago. They'd sell their own Mother for one.
I'm not an angry person I'm just severely disappointed in myself for being duped into being told this is a better place. It's not. I'm usually a better judge of character.
And I'll point out again, Chicago has NOT made the Top 10 list of "gay destinations" in years for obvious reasons.
Anonymous@7:56,
ReplyDeleteI do like to rant but maybe that's because I've seen so much change in the city for the worst in my 3 decades here that I'm just plain fed up and extremely saddened by the downhill slide of this great city...or what used to be a great city. Sorry, I speak my mind and vent about the lack of concern by the "powers that be" who don't seem to care about the law abiding, hardworking taxpaying citizens or what is happening to us. And Anonymous, at one time, the gay community USED to be a force to reckon with and a fun place to go to enjoy ones self...not anymore. Andersonville has BoysTown beat all to hell!
Lived in Andersonville, Towanda. Sorry I'm not a freak and didn't fit in. The dykes up there causing trouble on the street were no different than the thugs in Boystown. It's Chicago city "life" I guess. Not for me. Luckily, I can live anywhere I want with no problems whatsoever (and am going back to Michigan to live with beautiful neighbors in it's suburbs). Know what? I'm sure they knew I was gay and couldn't care less, no more than I could care less that they were 70 years old and probably still having sex. Again, Chicago is where gay freaks come to live that can't, don't or won't "fit in" anywhere else on the planet. Been here 5 years, my true observation.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, It NEVER used to be like that. Don't know about "dykes" in Andersonville brawling but I'll take your word for it. I do know how you feel though. Michigan is a great place to live, straight or gay. We have many friends in many parts of Michigan. Good luck to you there. Sometimes I want to get the hell out of here as well. Lived in Albuquerque, Denver and Scottsdale for my job. Far less crime there than here, but Chicago is my home, so I'm back to much disappointment at the state of this city and the gay (or lack thereof) community.
ReplyDeleteThere are no "dykes" brawling in Andersonville.
ReplyDeleteBEWARE
ReplyDeleteLet's just say since that "StarGaze" closed, it's been a lil calmer up there in Diversityville. I lived there. If you're a guy in a suit, watch out! It'll set them in a rage like you're trying to bring Walmart into a vacant building in Edgewater.
ReplyDeleteI am a guy in a suit in Andersonville. Lived here for over ten years with the wife and now kids. Never had a single bad incident with lesbians.
ReplyDelete.....cuz you were walking with your wife, silly.
