Around 8:22 p.m., police were called to The Gallery Bookstore at 923 West Belmont Avenue, in Chicago’s Lakeview community.

According to a 911 caller, a man inside the bookstore was behaving violently and making threats.

The suspect knocked over several items in the store, implied he had a weapon, and threatened to return to do more damage, said police.

Authorities also said the man may have made contact with the store’s cash register.

The offender was described as a skinny black man wearing a beige, short sleeve shirt and sunglasses.

After the alleged incident, the suspect fled eastbound on Belmont.

At 8:39 p.m., police announced that the alleged offender was in custody.

Here’s an odd bit of information. An officer at the scene asked if the detainee is related to a “minister”.

  4. Haha! Yes, Timothy. A westbound path of flight would be the preferred getaway from that address.
