An emergency vacate order, effective April 16, 2011, closed the doors of an Uptown neighborhood convenience store.

This place closing and staying closed would be a blessing. Ghetto thugs and thugettes hang out there all the time. Sheridan & Lawrence is a nightmare. The place across the street needs to be shut down as well. Gangs on one side and gangs on the other side. Plus, right down Lawrence is an SRO that has had 2 fires in the last year and a half. Nothing but ghetto thugs in that area, drug dealing, prostitution, shoot outs and none of the businesses have the balls to tell them to leave. This city needs to change it's "loitering" laws to 10-15 minutes and than make these ghetto thugs move along. Now, they can stand there, do their business and block sidewalks all day and night long. Keeping them moving!
ReplyDeleteIn old days, I used to stop at JJ Peppers for a bottle of water or a soda. The store across the street is so small and congested, I seldom ventured inside.
ReplyDeleteOver the years, there has been an increasing amount of gang and drug activity at both locations. I don't know how those businesses survive once the miscreants take over.
Towanda, I agree about the loitering laws. That would be an effective tool to keep the thugs from setting up shop. These knuckleheads have been versed in all of their "rights" and some know the criminal code chapter and verse. In the good old days the cops could tell them to "move along or else".
ReplyDeleteI also remember the good old days of "Pasteur" the french-vietnamese restaurant that was at the corner. The food was fabulous and the place was run by a lovely sister and brother from VietNam. There were not nearly as many bust-outs and weirdos on that corner in those days.
Change the laws so they actually benefit the innocent and not the criminals for a change! These ghetto thugs take civil rights to the extreme!
ReplyDeleteGive me the good old days back any fricking time! Than I wouldn't have to carry pepper spray and a full can of pop to clock them after I spray them!
Back in business according to "Uptown Update". Also a drug bust in the parking lot recently. CHANGE THE LOITERING LAWS! Can't our city councilmen do ANYTHING that helps protect the citizens of this city..EXCEPT take our money and run???? How hard is it to change the loitering laws???
ReplyDeleteSome butthole is always loitering near by and pounces on passersby, I need some change puhleeeeeeze! (nearly cries). No! F**k you!
ReplyDeletetowanda, the answer to your question is "Unfortunately, no". :(
