Rogers Park ‘store owner’ shot during robbery

A woman, described by police as a 45-year-old grocery store owner on Chicago’s Far North Side, was shot during a robbery.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at 7127 North Ridge Boulevard, near the corner Ridge and Touhy in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

The address belongs to a business called Ridge Touhy Grocers Inc.

Police said a black man entered the store and shot the female owner in the upper right arm.

The shooter is approximately 26-years-old, 5’9” to 5’10”, has a short Afro, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and a black hooded sweatshirt. He was also wearing a red bandanna over his face.

After the assault and robbery, the crook fled eastbound on Touhy Avenue.

The thief got away with approximately $300, said authorities.

    That area has gotten progressively worse with ghetto thugs. The Potawatomi Park isn't very far from there where shootings have occurred. West of Ridge a few blocks is pretty shady. I hope the woman will be ok. $300 bucks buys a lot of crack cocaine..I doubt this ghetto thugs will put it to good use and go buy his own high teck stuff.. especially when he can just steal it and I'm sure it won't go for child support..nope, I say crack cocaine was the motive.

    An unconfirmed source said the store owner is in stable condition. Let's hope the cops catch this punk before he kills someone.
