Sunday evening, a woman was robbed at a North Side, Old Town neighborhood “L” stop.

The robbery occurred around 1:50 p.m., on the platform at the CTA Brown Line Sedgwick train station at 1536 North Sedgwick Street, said police.

A thief snatched the woman’s cell phone and fled the scene via an emergency exit, said authorities.

The crook was described as a black male between 16 and 20-years-old, and approximately six-feet-tall.

He was last seen wearing a black knitted hat and a black jacket with a white-colored White Sox logo on the back. Underneath his coat, he was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

According to one source, a young male black, who usually wears a leather Pelle Pelle jacket turned inside out, is responsible for a series of robberies at the Sedgwick station.

Authorities aren’t sure if the same suspect was involved in today’s robbery, but cautioned officers to be on the lookout for anyone matching either of the aforementioned descriptions.

NOTE: According to police dispatch, the offender wanted in Sunday's robbery, returned to the station at 3:48 p.m. The information was called in by CTA's security.

  1. Well, that's been going on repeatedly at that station since at least last January. Again, they're allowed to do that in this city.

  2. Yes. The ghetto savages have free reign of the city while people who work for a living have to watch their backs. For those of you who think it's going to be any different when Emanuel takes office... DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!

  3. This is what we get when ghetto punks live in all the neighborhoods in this city! Better to have kept them all in one place rather than have this crap! They prey on us, we don't prey on them and than they wonder why there is prejudice towards them...duh! The worse the crimes are, the worse the prejudice gets. Thank Richie!

  4. Fed up with black criminalsApril 18, 2011 at 12:15 AM

Tearing down the projects and spreading that ignorant lazy vermin throughout the city is the worst thing to ever happen to Chicago! What Daley did to this city should be considered criminal!

  5. Have to agree with ALL these comments. Ghetto thugs, uneducated, lazy, bottom feeding ghetto thugs will be the end of this city IF we do not get them in check! There were many people in the projects who weren't criminals BUT, the majority of the people who came out of the projects WERE and still are. Now, the entire city is being terrorized by these ghetto thugs! I doubt this is what MLK had in mind when he fought for civil rights. These people are a disgrace to their culture and should be herded up and kept in one place, better to keep them in line. Than the rest of the city can sleep in peace! They DO NOT DESERVE to live among contributing law abiding citizens.

  6. The fact that the thief felt safe enough to return to scene of the crime hours later, says it all!

  7. Takes "big ones" to return to the scene of the crime to commit yet another crime and the fact that these ghetto thugs are not afraid of the justice system!

    Did they catch him???

  8. The Sedgwick El Stop is near the now, defunct Cabrini Green Housing Projects. Torn down buildings don't always equate to reduced (or no) crime. :|

  9. Towanda, sorry, I'm not sure if he was arrested.

  10. I'm fed up with ALL criminals. Crime, like ignorance, is not restricted to ethnic people. This person, yes unfortunately, happens to be African American. But check the news. There are many who use an equal opportunity to commit crimes.
