Thief robs Uptown grocery store, steals a month’s worth of food

If you think all thieves are lazy so-and-so's, who usually roll out of bed around noon - you are sadly mistaken. One north side crook was up at the crack of dawn taking care of his business.

At approximately 6:49 a.m., a thief strolled into the Uptown neighborhood Jewel-Osco at 4355 North Sheridan Road and did a little grocery shopping.

Police said the man took full advantage of his five-finger-discount - completely bypassing any Presidents' Day sales.

According to a Jewel-Osco employee, the offender stole two bags of groceries, totaling $80.00.

Police described the suspect as an African-American man wearing a black jacket. He was last seen walking northbound on Sheridan Road carrying two Jewel grocery bags.

  1. "completely bypassing any Presidents' Day sales". too funny and who could bypass a sale? Excuse me, but aren't there pantries to actually get "Free" food rather than take it?
