  3. There was a "bike shooter" last year in Uptown and a shooting by Big Chicks
last year as well. It's slick as hell out so I guess the bike was the better mode of transportation for a get away. Wonder how cold and miserable it has to be outside to keep these losers inside?????

  4. I have a friend who LOVES Big Chicks. He has asked me to meet him there several times. But I refuse to go, because I can't find bullet proof underwear in my size. :-)

I used to LOVE Uptown. I thought it was a fantastic neighborhood with tons of potential. When I moved to the area in the 90's, I always felt comfortable on the streets.

In 2000, I used to live in a high rise on Sheridan Rd. One day I started to notice a group of African-American boys and a lone African-American female, constantly loitering in front of the building. It didn't take long for me to realize they were selling drugs.

I started calling the police on them every time I saw them. On one occasion, they almost got away, because the person who had the drugs handed them to someone else as the cops pulled up.

Since I was watching the scene from the 10th floor, I could see everything! I immediately called the police back and told them the person holding the drugs was standing across the street watching them.

SHE WAS ARRESTED AND I NEVER SAW HER ON THE BLOCK AGAIN!

But the celebration was short-lived. Soon, the thugs and thugettes were all over Uptown - like roaches. The neighborhood was infested and the good old days were over!

  11. This really had nothing to do with Big Chicks. The headline is misleading.

  12. CRH, the shooting was near Big Chicks. There is nothing misleading about the title.

I referenced the bar in article to give the reader a clearer perspective of where the crime occurred. The location, Carmen and Sheridan, may not register with some people. However, a lot of people know where Big Chicks is.

By using that bar as a reference point, it brings a better sense of familiarity to the location of the crime scene.

  13. when one thinks about the kind of garbage managing this building at 925 w. carmen and the history of meth and other hard drugs this manager did in her earlier years then all this makes perfect sense. karma

  14. This incident had nothing to do with 925 Carmen ...it happened nearby. Why not say it happened in front of
The Parc Paris parking lot or the bldg on the other side? Fact is it took place on Carmen ave. not in any bldg.
