Suspicious Man Knocks on Rogers Park Woman’s Door

I hear you knocking, but you can't come in...

Around 6 a.m., a man knocked on an apartment door on the 7600 block of North Rogers Avenue in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood.

The complete stranger asked the woman on the other side of the door for money. When the woman refused to open the door, he told her he needed the dough to care for a sick child.

The suspect is described a “tall” African-American man with a light complexion, wearing a dark coat.

He was last seen walking westbound towards Sheridan Road.

  1. Are you kidding me???? The balls on some of these ghetto thugs is amazing. Just think what they COULD be if they but the energy they use to scam, rob, steal, mug and kill into a better life. Now they're door to door "salesmen"? Isn't that the way you used to be able to buy a Kirby vacuum?
Brings to mind that 80's 1 hit wonder by Terri Gibbs.."Somebody's Knocking".."could be the devil"

  2. Could this be the same guy who is suspected of doing this in Evanston's 8th ward? His name is Tim Brown, he is on parole for residential burglary, and he is 6'8" and 220 lbs.

  3. towanda, I hope this guy is caught before someone gets hurt. I hope no one in Chicago is foolish enough to open their door for a stranger.

But here's what worries me... what if this man catches someone alone in a hallway?

  4. I think I've seen this guy before. He approaches anyone and everyone, asking for money for his asthmatic child, who needs a nebulizer. Walks right up to you on the street, in your face, tries to shake your hand and says he's your neighbor. He trolls all over east Rogers Park. My husband and I have seen him multiple times. I have NO idea if his story is legit or not, but he makes me very uncomfortable.

By the way, Anonymous' description fits the guy I've seen to a tee. His height is impressive.
