Police: Man Killed, Suicide at CTA Blue Line Subway Station; Service Delays

I have not been able to confirm this information, but I was just told that a man committed suicide at the Grand/Milwaukee Blue Line subway station at 502 West Milwaukee Ave. However, CBS is reporting the train struck the man at the CTA Chicago Blue Line station, 800 North Milwaukee Avenue.

At 9:25 p.m., a police evidence technician was called to the scene to photograph the train. The man involved in this incident was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to CTA's website, "service on the Blue Line has been temporarily suspended between Damen and LaSalle due to a medical emergency."

An officer at the scene, said the death was suicide related.

As of 10:22 p.m., police are still investigating and "several body parts" are still on the scene.

According to Chicago Breaking News: "A 40-year-old man (who was hit by a CTA train) was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis."

  1. Why do all these people who want to kill themselves think the trains are the best way to do it? Why not just take a bottle of pills and die in YOUR own home? I don't get this.

  3. no offense Tim - as i like your comprehensive news blog - but i find myself being turned off by your playful banter with towanda, which seems to be more prevalent lately. i don't want u to censor her, as she entitled to her voice - regardless of how closed minded, jaded, illogical and hateful it can be. you do your self and this important blog no favors by responding to her outrageous comments politely as above. And in other instances when you have concurred with her, I think it discredits you and your blog.
take a step back and read her comment above...it is utterly and totally ridiculous and i find it incredible and truly sad that another human being could be so jaded as to make such comments regarding this tragedy. i pray she never has to be judged as harshly as she judges others.

  4. Anonymous, I appreciate everyone who reads my blog and responds to my articles. I really appreciate your concern and your opinion, but towanda is entitled to her own opinions.

You said you don't want me to censor towanda, but you seem to be implying that I need to censor myself.

towanda is one of the few readers who takes the time to actively participate on my blog. Most times - she is the only reader who comments on my articles. There is no way on earth I am going to ignore her. If you disagree with towanda's views, you are more than welcome to address her here.

  5. Anonymous, I'm sorry you feel that way about me. If you want to engage me, you can do that. You don't know me or anything about my life. Have you even thought that my comments are for a reason? Again, if you want to engage me, I'm happy to,and I respect your opinion or lack thereof, of me, it's your opinion and you are entitle to it. I think no less of you for it.
    Would you like my email?

  7. Anonymous" @11:35. I've been thinking about your comment and I'm curious why you think you know me well enough to say" closed minded, jaded, illogical and hateful". If I were commenting under the guise of "anonymous" instead of my name, how would Timothy know who you were talking about? And why do you feel so superior that you can be judgmental of me? This is still a free country and we STILL have the first & second amendments..or have you forgotten that? Not cool to try and put Timothy in the middle of this, after all, it is a blog that allows comments. Why read the comments if you don't like what you read? Better yet, why be judgmental of someone you don't know? Isn't everyone guaranteed to their opinion in this country, like it or not?
