No way! This area is WAY too cool for something like this to happen.
ReplyDeleteNOW THIS REALLY PISSES ME OFF! Bryn Mawr seems to have had an increase of panhandlers and thugs roaming the streets lately. An overspill from Uptown perhaps? Whatever the reason, These people ned to stay the hell out of my neighborhood. Believe me, the Alderman has gotten an ear full from many many residents about the visible uptick of people looking to harm here. I see nothing wrong with the police starting to ask certain looking trouble makers what they're doing in a certain area. Ignoring these "low-rider pants falling past their butts dressed in puffy coats all in black" gives them more power. Cry racial profiling, I don't give a damn! Yell to the ACLU! I don't give a damn! They need to know "we" see them! They're not there to socialize in the neighborhood, they're there to inflict harm on us and instill fear! Dregs of the earth, that's all they are!
ReplyDeleteTowanda, if the police start aggressively questioning these characters and checking for outstanding warrants, I bet things would change.
ReplyDeleteSince Weis took over, the police seem to be less assertive.
Timothy, besides Weis, blame Daley, various do gooders and the "revruns" too. :(
ReplyDeleteI don't give a fricking rats ass who's to blame. The police need to "grow some" and start stopping these ghetto thugs and questioning them. You're right Timothy, I'm quite sure they pretty much all have warrants. Put the word out that the cops are stopping people looking for warrants in Edgewater and watch how quick they get the hell out of the neighborhood! What a concept. When I walk down Thorndale (which isn't often) the "boys" scatter when they see the cops coming and they drive around there a lot because of the school. The presence of the cops makes a huge difference. And if that can't be done, than by all means bring in the National guard. Place them on a couple corners and watch what happens. It'll be like magic..."Poof" they're gone!
ReplyDeleteRudy, there is so much blame to be spread around, we could turn the mere act of naming names, into a miniseries.
ReplyDeleteTaxpaying citizens should not have to live in fear, while leeches who milk the government's tit, run the streets.
If the Chicago police department doesn't have the manpower to clean up this mess, then by all means, bring in the troops.
After all, they are sworn to protect America from foreign and domestic enemies. :-)
Towanda, I read an article several months ago about police officers in an Illinois town, I can't remember which one, who started stopping the bums who hung out on the corner and asking for ID.
ReplyDeleteThen the officers would check for warrants. Suddenly, the corners were empty and the respectable citizens in the neighborhood could walk down the street without dodging bullets.
Timothy, I agree with your January 25 comments. :)
ReplyDeletetowanda, the police aren't going to "grow some", while Daley and Weis are around. :(
