Man With A Knife: Brawl at Lakeview IHOP

Police received a “man with a knife” call around 5:04a.m.

A 911 caller reported a knife-wielding suspect at the International House of Pancakes at 3760 North Halsted Street in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.

The offender was waving a knife and threatening customers. A description of the man was not provided.

Moments later, a police dispatcher announced customers were fighting at IHOP and throwing plates at each other.

One of the individuals involved in melee fled the scene in a car going northbound on Halsted Street, then eastbound on West Grace Street.

  1. Really? The IHOP now? Pretty soon every thing will close early for fear of the criminals. Let's just roll up the sidewalks, shall we?

I went there a few months ago with a several friends after going out to a club. I remember seeing an armed security guard standing near the entrance. It was too crowded for such a small space so we left and schlepped over to Melrose. Also, too many (alleged) Tranny (alleged) hookers hanging out in that place in the middle of the night. Nothing more dangerous than a drag queen mixed with alcohol armed with sharp utensils.

This was many years ago but some of my best friends when I was a club DJ were drag queens. Hilarious every one of them but the drama was unreal.

  8. What is going on in this neighborhood? I used to live there back in the 90s and I don't remember all this drama happening back then.
