Man Attacked, Cut at Lakeview Hotel Chateau

A man was attacked and possibly cut with a knife at a north side hotel. The alleged attacker is the man’s "wife".

At 12:51 a.m., 911 received a call from the Hotel Chateau at 3838 North Broadway Street, in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. The 911 caller said his "wife" was “beating” him and she was armed with a knife.

When police arrived at the hotel, the woman was gone.

The victim had visible “scratches and cuts” on his body, said one police officer.

The man’s "wife" was described as a 50-year-old African-American woman, approximately 5’8”, and 155 lbs. She was last seen wearing a dark-colored or black leather jacket and a multi-colored hat.

Even though the victim told police the woman is his wife, they do not share the same last name.

  1. This place is an SRO and owned by the same guy who owns the Diplomat. It is roach & bedbug infested and basically a dump! It should be shut down just like the Diplomat was. They charge like $450 a month for a small cubicle that is the size of some peoples bathrooms. I realize that there is a need for these types of places buy what I don't understand is why the City does not enforce city codes on these places. Mostly drunks and drug addicts live in them so getting into a fight with a knife is pretty standard in these places. I'm sure she'll get caught but, like most criminal, will probably only get a slap on the wrist and he may not even press charges. Wouldn't want to lose the "wifey"..

  4. This place is essentially a crack house. I've ridden by it on the bus multiple times in the middle of winter and looked up only to be greeted by glassy, vacant stares of multiple "residents" starting out their wide open windows in a daze suggesting they had no clue what was happening.

  5. This dump should have been shutdown years ago. Crack, coke, you name it! The city should be held accountable for this public nuisance.

  6. "Anonymous" I have to agree with you there and I can't understand why they shut the Diplomat down for code violations and left this one open. It's owned by the same guy and is in just as bad a shape as the Diplomat was..Oh wait, I think this is in Helen Shiller's ward..which explains a lot. The Diplomat is in Tom Tunney's ward..BIG DIFFERENCE!

  8. I stayed in the Diplomat because of my social service agency, I don't understand how people end up like this. Thankfully I'm out of the SRo situation
