Gunman Robs South Side Family Dollar Store

On January 16, 2011, around 10:50 a.m., a south side dollar store was robbed at gunpoint.

The robbery occurred at the Family Dollar store at 364 East 87th Street in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood.

Police described the armed suspect as an African-American man with a light complexion, approximately 25-years-old, about 5'7", and 115 lbs. He was last seen wearing a light blue jacket and a black skull cap.

After the robbery, the crook ran northbound on Martin Luther King Drive.

  1. Rahm used the term "food desert" regarding the lack of places for people to shop on the south & west sides..this is why. They're always getting held up so why risk your life to provide a service? They just move out. Very stupid people who cut of their nose to spite their face these ghetto thugs are. Too bad it affects the law abiding contributing citizens. People don't realize they ruin it for ALL people with their behavior.

    Believe it or not, I did not understand why Target put a store in Uptown. As far I'm concerned, they might as well have put that store in Englewood.

    No one in their right mind would open a store in a war zone. No one.

    In the 60's, areas like 47th Street and 63rd Street were booming with businesses. The businesses that weren't burned to the ground during the riots of 1968, were later destroyed by crime. Many decades later, those areas are still dumps.
