Lincoln Park Business Robbed at Gunpoint, Employee Beaten

The details are sketchy, but I will share what I know.

At 1 a.m., a business near the intersection of North Ashland and West Fullerton Avenues was robbed at gunpoint.

I have been unable to get a definitive location for the crime, but unconfirmed reports indicate the robbery and assault occurred at J&R Liquor and Food, 2401 North Ashland Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Two gunmen entered the store armed with blue steel automatic handguns. One of the gunmen hit a store clerk in the face, leaving the clerk bleeding from his right eye.

Both offenders were wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

An eyewitness told police a white van was spotted at the crime scene. However, investigators said the store owner’s son drives a gray van and that might be the vehicle the witness reported.

According to a source, the thieves stole a couple of dollars in coins.
