A Chicago taxi driver has been accused of trying to intentionally run a man over with his cab, and it happened in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood.
Around 7:33 p.m., a man called 911 claiming a cabdriver on the 5200 block of North Sheridan Road purposely tried to run him over with his vehicle. The 911 caller claimed he was badly injured when he was struck by the cab.
At 7:35 p.m. an officer at the scene confirmed the victim’s report. The officer called for an ambulance and told police dispatch, the victim was bleeding profusely from the head.
So far, there has been no mention of the name of the cab company or a description of the taxi driver.

What a weird story. Was the guy a passenger, didn't pay or stepped out onto the street without looking? Or was the cab driver just having a bad night? I wonder sometimes if cab drivers get so sick of dealing with the public and being victims themselves sometimes, they just snap. What a stressful job. I hope that victim is ok.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there is more to this story than what was broadcast over the police radio. I can't imagine a taxi driver trying to run over a random strangers FOR NO REASON.
ReplyDeletetowanda, I never report the numerous 911 calls from cabdrivers who were robbed of their fare. If I did, those stories would take over my blog.
How can someone sit in cab, be driven to their destination, and then refuse to pay? What kinds of people are we raising?
The same kind of people who rob, beat, mug and shoot people. Isn't it sad!?
ReplyDeletetowanda, I usually over-tip people in the service industry, because I know how hard their jobs are. But if you give me bad service, I will NOT tip and I will tell you to your face, why I am withholding my tip.

ReplyDeleteTouché!
I'm reminded of Dan Firkins, who was killed after being dragged by a cab in Bucktown. Don't think they've ever had a lead on that:

actually the victim is a friend of mine, he was walking on the sidewalk when the cabbie brushed him turning into the dominick's, he got the cabbie to stop, an argument ensued & the cabbie attacked the pedestrian then fled the scene. cab number 2802 (company currently unknown).
ReplyDeletethere was no mention of cabbie intentionally running victim over, though the cabbie called the victim a “faggot” while striking him (with his fist), so hate crime charges may be brought against the drive, along with other charges as well.
the victim suffered a broken nose & facial lacerations.
wparkboy, thank you for providing that information. Is your friend okay?
ReplyDeletewparkboy, I hope they find that cab driver and revoke his license. It's the right thing to do because this driver has major anger issues.
