2 Shot, 1 in the Head: Logan Square Shooting

Two people were shot while driving through Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. I became aware of the shooting at 8:54 p.m.

The shooting occurred at 3522 West Diversey Parkway Avenue near K&A Laundromat, near the intersection of Diversey and North Drake Avenue.

Police said the shooting victims were driving along Diversey Parkway when they heard gunfire. Seconds later, they realized they had been shot.

One source said one man was shot in the head.

Initially, both victims were taken to Norwegian Hospital. At 9:49 p.m., the men were transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting may be gang related.

  1. Isn't shooting someone part of an initiation into gang membership to see if you're "WORTHY"? I'm curious why the CPD doesn't raid these gang members homes for illegal guns and drugs? I would think a constant barrage of raids that confiscate their guns would REALLY make CRIME go down. Is there some kind of law that doesn't allow raids on known places that have illegal weapons and drugs? I mean, come on, the CPD KNOWS they have illegal weapons and are drug dealers. This seems like a no brainer to me. It's called "supply & demand"..take away their guns and drugs and maybe there would be some peace, at least for a little while.

I have been asking that question for years. And you are right about the gang initiations. Some gangs require their members to murder or injure someone to prove your loyalty. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

  3. It's not just initiation, its ''turf" wars, drug wars and fights over he said she said. It doesn't take a real initiation to get into a gang anymote. All it takes is an interest in the gang and an interest in selling drugs.
The reason the police don't raid houses is because as stupid as it may seem to you to be a gang member - most of them are pretty intelligent and dont keep stashed of guns and drugs in the houses they live in. They keep them in places that the police wont be able to pin it on one certain person. So if a bunch of officers raid a house they are just wasting tax payer money and their time.
