Thieves Ditch Stolen Car in Rogers Park, Lead Police on Foot Chase

Around 1:53 a.m., officers were in hot pursuit of two male suspects, after they bailed on a stolen vehicle and ran from police.

The car was abandoned near the intersection of North Ashland Avenue and West Howard Street, in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

After running the car’s license plate, officers discovered the vehicle belongs to a California, Hertz rental car agency. The car was stolen from the 7600 block of North Bosworth Avenue.

Police chased two African-American suspects on foot, to a north alley on Ashland Avenue; where they lost the suspects.

One offender was wearing a sweater with gray and black stripes. The second suspect was described as 5’7”, 180 lbs, and was last seen wearing a white and black hoodie. Officers believe he may have disposed of the hoodie, exposing a black t-shirt, he was wearing underneath his top garment.

In an attempt to capture the suspects, police converged on 1546 West Jonquil Terrace. Officers believed the suspects were headed to that location.

According to police records, officers have been to the West Jonquil address several times, this month. Including December 6th, when a man at the aforementioned address, was arrested for carrying an illegal firearm.

As of 2:23 a.m., both suspects are still on the loose.

The stolen rental car was towed from the scene.
