Rahm Emanuel Criticized for Email Mentioning Firefighters’ Deaths and Asking for Donations

There’s an old Michael Jackson song that goes, “Don’t make it on the sunshine, don’t blame it on the moonlight, don’t blame it on the good times, blame it on the boogie!” Well, Rahm Emanuel isn’t blaming the sunshine or the boogie for his latest political gaff; he’s blaming his email template.

The former White House chief of staff sent an email to his supporters expressing his sorrow and gratitude towards fallen firefighters: Edward Stringer and Corey Ankum. If the email had stopped there, there would be nothing to blog about. But it didn’t.

After Emanuel’s sweet words was a donation button. Egad! I’m shocked!

Ben LaBolt, Emanuel’s spokesman, said the email was mistakenly drafted using the wrong template. Eventually, the oversight was corrected and the donation button was deactivated. Emanuel supporters who clicked on the donation icon were asked to donate money to help Stringer and Ankum’s bereaved family members, instead.

I think someone is peeing on our legs and saying it's raining.
