A fire was reported on the CTA Blue Line after smoke was seen coming from the train tracks.
Police and the fire department were notified around 4:59 a.m.
Smoke clouded the Division/Milwaukee subway station at 1200 North Milwaukee Avenue, as firefighters and police responded.
An officer on the scene said there was no fire. The smoke was caused by a chemical repellent, sprayed on the tracks by CTA engineers.
The estimated delay for northbound trains was 10 to 15 minutes.
