Burglar Startles Woman During Norwood Park Break-in

A Norwood Park woman came face to face with a prowler who broke into her home.

The frightening incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m., on the 5600 block of North Mason Avenue on Chicago’s northwest side.

Authorities said the man pried open a window and entered the woman’s home. When the suspect saw the complainant, he fled the scene. One officer said the offender probably thought the place was empty.

The suspect was described as an African-American man in his twenties with a thin build and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap, a yellow or mango-colored jacket, and black pants.

The prowler fled the scene southbound through a nearby alley.

  1. "African-American man"..again, no shock here. I am glad this lowlife didn't get in, I can just imagine what he would have done to that woman.

  2. Yeah... this one was a little scary. I'm glad it didn't turn into something more serious.

  3. Remember the old guy who shot the thug breaking into his home? I gave a huge cheer for that guy. Wonder if that lady has a LEGAL gun? We bought a condo in a high rise with 24 doormen and great security for safety reasons. In this city, with the crime these ghetto thugs are committing, I wouldn't live anywhere else. It's going out on the street that keeps me looking over my shoulder.
