Police Searching for Austin Neighborhood Carjackers

The carjackers are out in full force. So, be aware.

A man was carjacked at gunpoint around 5:08 p.m., near the intersection of West Chicago Avenue and North Pine Avenue in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.

The victim said his vehicle was hijacked by four African-American men. Police said one of the carjackers was armed with a 9 millimeter handgun.

The hoodlums took off in the complainant’s green 1999 Buick Regal with the license plate L121539. The vehicle may be similar to the one in the photograph.
