This morning, around 3:07 a.m., police were called to the 3900 block of West School Street in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood, on a domestic battery call.
The severity of the situation quickly escalated, when police received a second 911 call indicating a woman was being held at gunpoint, in a basement apartment at the West School Street address. Making matters worse, there were two pit bulls in the apartment, as well.
At 3:09 a.m., shots were fired by a police officer. One pit pull was shot. Whether or not the dog is dead, is unclear.
The victim and her children were unharmed, but the offender managed to escape.
The suspect was described as 5’4”, 138 lbs, and was last seen wearing a brown puffy coat with a hood, and white gym shoes.
At one point, officers searched a nearby Walgreens at 3222 N. Milwaukee Avenue for the suspect. He is still at large.
