Man Shot After Shooting at Police in Chatham

Police shot a man on the 800 block of East 87th Street in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood, after he reportedly opened fired on several officers. The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m.

The shooter was described as an African-American man with dreadlocks, wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans.  He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

According to police, the offender was shot twice in the chest and once in the right hand.

Additional units were called to the scene to control traffic on the 8700 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

No officers were injured during the shooting.
