Springfield, Illinois --- The Catholic church seems to have its own version of don't ask don't tell... get married, but don't put it in the paper.
Laine Tadlock is no longer the education director of Benedictine University; whether she was fired or forced to resign, doesn't really seem to matter. The crux of the matter is, Tadlock was treated indifferently, because she did something people of all faiths and no faith, do everyday -- she announced her upcoming marriage to Kae Helstrom in the paper.
Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Catholic Diocese of Springfield has put an interesting spin on the church's decision to oust Tadlock. He claims the former education director was offered a new position, and when she turned it down, it was considered a form of resignation.
That's what the bishop says out of the left side of his mouth. The right side admits the church's decision to shake things up, was inspired by Tadlock's public announcement of her "lesbian union".
Backpedaling and trying to save face, Paprocki insists it was Tadlock's disregard for the fundamental beliefs of the Catholic church, not her sexual orientation, that lead to the changes.

Get your facts straight. She was never fired. And you call yourself a new reporter...
