Robbery on CTA Red Line at Lawrence “L” Station, Ends at Belmont

At 3:32 a.m., someone reported a man on the CTA Red Line, threatening to pull a gun on another passenger. When the initial 911 call was made, the southbound train was at the Lawrence Red Line station at 1117 W. Lawrence Ave., in Uptown.

The offender was described as an African-American man, wearing a royal blue hat and a blue jacket.

Moments later, it was reported that a man was being robbed on a southbound, Red Line train, approaching the Sheridan “L” station at 3940 N. Sheridan Rd. The robbery was taking place on car number 2648.

At 3:36 a.m., dispatch announced that the southbound Red Line train would held at the Belmont “L” station, until police arrived.

Officers arrived at the station at 3:41 a.m., where the suspect was taken into custody.

Good job officers!

  2. Why ANYONE would attempt to rob someone on the "L" is a mystery to me. It's almost GUARANTEED they will get caught. How stupid.
