OMG! I think I just lost all respect for Jay Levine.
On October 11, 2010, right before the Columbus Day Parade, a group of reporters flocked to ask former White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, questions.
When WIND radio talk show host, William J. Kelly, peppered Emanuel with hard-hitting questions about his Chicago residency and President Obama’s "failed" stimulus bill, several local TV reporters got their undies in a knot.
Here comes the meltdown!
When Kelly asked Emanuel to clarify how electing him Mayor, would qualify as a fresh start for Chicago, Jay Levine snapped! He literally got in Kelly‘s face and growled, “Let him finish or I am going to deck you!”
Seriously. I had to watch the video 6 times, before I could believe my eyes!
On October 15th, William J. Kelly announced that a police report and a request for an arrest warrant had been filed against CBS2 chief correspondent, Jay Levine.
To be continued…

I saw a bully trying to stop Rahm from speaking to the adult reporters. Why is WIND sending a toddler out to do a man's job?
ReplyDeleteAh, WIND claims that toddler Kelly was wearing his Hallwn costume early:
ReplyDelete"It was wrong for Kelly to call himself a reporter at WIND when he does not work for the station," said [WIND general manager Jeff] Reisman, who otherwise indicated he has no problems with the host or his radio show
I am sorry that "the toddler" Kelly hurt poor Charles Thomas and Jay Levine's feelings, but:
ReplyDelete1) Kelly has a press pass, and is a reporter for his radio show and has a right to ask questions, Emanuel doesn't have to answer them, but Kelly has the right to ask them.
2) Thomas and Levine have no right to make any claims as to the legitamacy of Kelly's cridentials, which is why Kelly's questioning both Thomas and Lavine "Are you his Press Secretary?" is perfectly reasonable. If you are not his Press Secretary, then back off. You do not have the right to block out another reporter, or even worse try to grab or nock down their microphone.
3) Of anyone in the Chicago news community, Lavine should know that in many cases you have to press to get answers to your questions. Heck Levine has done it a few times in his career, so for him to block out other reporters doing the same thing as he used to do before he becomming a news elitist, is wrong.
4)Lavine in fact on camera, threaten bodily harm ot Kelly - which if you read the law, is infact assault, and if Kelly files, he should be arrested and booked. Kelly should also sue CBS2 news.
So as much as you don't like Kelly. He is right on this one.
On the one hand, Kelly seems to be asking some pretty loaded questions, and its true that he's not really affiliated with any news desk. But you have to give me credit, when the only question any of the "real" reporters can ask is "how does it feel to be back." I'm sure it feels great.
ReplyDeleteTalk about your mouthpiece-reporters, I'll never trust a journalist in a suit.
jay levine's credibility has been tarnished as a result of this video and he only has himself to blame.
