9:10 pm -- Police were called to the 1000 block of South Mason Ave., in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, after gunshots were fired.
After the shooter and his accomplices fled the scene, a bullet was found lodged in the radiator of a vehicle.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
A witness saw 6 men leaving the scene. Three of the suspects were described as African-American. The witness wasn’t sure about the race or ethnicity of the other 3 offenders. However, the witness was able to tell police that one man was wearing a black hoodie and another was wearing a “sports coat”.
All six suspects fled the scene northbound on Mason Ave.
Ten minutes later….
9:20 p.m. -- A man on the 1300 block of North Parkside Ave., also in the Austin neighborhood, was robbed at gunpoint.
The victim told police he was accosted by 4 African-American men. One of the suspects pulled a gun and took the man’s wallet. The thieves ordered the robbery victim to run to the back of his house, and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
