At 11:34 p.m., Chicago police officers announced that a young boy had been shot in the stomach.
The shooting occurred on the 6100 block of South Marshfield Ave., in Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood.
The shooting victim was described as being between the ages of 11 to 12-years-old.
There was speculation that the child’s wounds were self-inflicted, but since he was unconscious, police were unable to interview the victim.
Although the official report released to the media says the boy was only shot in the stomach, an officer at Comer Children's Hospital, described several gunshot wounds on the victim.
No one is in custody for the shooting.
