Shots Fired in Uptown: 1028 West Sunnyside

3:45 am -- Speaking of Uptown’s escalating murder rate, citizens reported several gunshots in the area, this morning.

Shots were reportedly heard on Agatite and Sheridan, Sunnyside and Sheridan, and the infamous intersection of Wilson and Broadway.

Police spoke to a witness who said the shots were fired “west of the park”.

At one point, police were having a hard time getting the witnesses to show them where the shooting actually occurred. According to a Chicago police officer, the witnesses were afraid to go back to the scene. Eventually, one observer changed their mind and decided to cooperate with the police.

Police canvassed the area of Sunnyside and Sheridan looking for shell casings. After a brief investigation, 1028 West Sunnyside was designated as the official crime scene.

At this time, I have no information on the shooter(s) and there is no word of any injuries.
