People are calling it vigilante justice. Comments like, "Way to go, granny!" are all over the Internet.
The elderly woman, who has been reported to be 68 or 70-years-old, is being called a heroine of sorts, and applauded for her actions. But is this event a cause for celebration, or a frightening sign of where we are headed as a nation?
The back story:
On September 28, 2010, around 5:25 pm, two children, one of whom was a 12-year-old boy, reportedly broke the windows of an elderly woman's home on the 7600 block of South Coles, in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. The woman allegedly saw the boys fleeing the scene, as she returned from a trip to the grocery store.
When the boys returned to the old woman's home - purportedly calling her names and threatening her with bricks - like a scene right of Micheal Douglas' movie, "Falling Down", the senior citizen snapped.
Police say the elderly woman retrieved a handgun that used to belong to a dead relative, and shot the little whippersnapper in the arm. The second child at the scene escaped unharmed.
The 12-year-old was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and hopefully, taught a valuable lesson.

i am on the old lady's side!
ReplyDeleteThat lady complaining about that punk getting shot needs to comb her hair and shut the hell up! People like her are the reason that old lady had to shoot that little bastard.
ReplyDeleteThere is clearly something wrong with you people. You don't shot a CHILD over property damage. If she thought her life was in danger she should have called the cops!
ReplyDeleteGood! Maybe the little punk will learn a lesson and not grow up to be another gang banger who has no respect for human life.
ReplyDeleteThe people defending him would change their tune instantly if it were their window. Today, he's is throwing bricks, in a few years he is shooting bullets. Better nip it in the bud now.
I just read that the woman will not be charged and that piece of scum she shot was charged with a crime. AND THAT'S GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS, INDEED!
