Assault on CTA Belmont, Red Line “L” Station; Elderly Man Attacked

5:21 am -- Several reports of an assault at the Belmont, Red Line "L" Stop (949 West Belmont), just rolled in.

Reportedly, an African-American male assaulted an elderly male passenger and threw him on the ground. Then the suspect removed his shirt, tucked it in his back pocket, and began to threaten other CTA riders, waiting on the southbound platform.

The alleged offender was wearing a white shirt and black plants.

No further information is available.

  1. That's scary. I may have to start using this stop in the near future to get to school, and at this time in the mornings too, so this is just scary to hear about. Hope the man assaulted is ok.

  2. AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter, based on the 911 callers' description of this man and his behavior, he sounds like a drug user or someone with mental issues. Either way, you are right. This is very scary stuff.
