If you're gay, chances are, you know someone who is living with HIV, AIDS... and chances are, that person is receiving some form of financial assistance from the government.
While some AIDS patients clearly deserve these handouts, others are merely taking advantage of an extremely flawed system.
Through several conversations with a man who is living with HIV, AIDS, Chicago News Report unearthed a shocking scam that needs to be brought to the public's attention.
A Chicago AIDS patient, whom we'll refer to as Patient A, received his life-changing diagnosis several years ago.
Patient A is a so-called former drug addict and male prostitute (who is now too old and undesirable to turn tricks)... and according to a local doctor, Patient A is too sick to work.
However, Patient A has no problem working out at the gym or standing around for hours at a time at adult bookstores, waiting for sex.
Patient A also uses part of his monthly income to purchase marijuana; which he claims he smokes for medicinal purposes.
Okay... so there are plenty of people on disability who are healthy enough to work. So, what's the big deal? Well, what if I told you Patient A found a way to give "free money" to someone who has not been declared disabled... would that impress you?
During our very candid conversation, Patient A said he hired a friend to help him with his daily chores. The government pays for the "help," because Patient A is too sick to take care of himself.
However, Patient A doesn't need the assistance, but he does need the extra money. You see, Patient A and his so-called caregiver, split the money.
"Because my doctor said I need around the clock care, they paid for live-in help. I moved my friend in and we split his paycheck," said Patient A. "It works out really well."
Patient A is also on section-8. He currently lives in a $2100-a-month apartment on Chicago's North Side.
"HIV pays my bills", said one 40-something gay Chicago waiter/artist/student loan recipient...... on his way to Hollywood any day now.
