3 North Side robberies in less than an hour

In less than sixty minutes, three known robberies occurred at various locations on Chicago's North Side.

The first incident happened around 9:11 p.m. on the 4100 block of North Clarendon Avenue in Uptown.

Citing police dispatch reports, three black suspects robbed a customer of his cell phone at 4181 North Clarendon Avenue.

According to online business records, the address belongs to Dollop Coffee and Tea.

Initial reports indicated all three offenders were male, but subsequent information suggest one of the culprits may be female.

After the robbery, a Good Samaritan followed the crooks several blocks south to the area of Addison and Lake Shore Drive, where he lost sight of them, said police.

Approximately thirty-seven minutes later, at approximately 9:48 p.m., a second victim was robbed on the 1400 block of West Thorndale Avenue in the city's Edgewater Glen neighborhood.

Two black males, 5'10 to 6-feet-tall with medium builds, took the victim's iPhone, said police.

Meanwhile, farther south, police apprehended another alleged cell phone thief in Wrigleyville.

The suspect was arrested in an alley behind 3510 North Clark Street, shortly after 10 p.m.

At the time of this report, the muggers involved in the Uptown and Edgewater Glen robberies were still at large.

  1. White people should just reactivate their old cell phones that were bigger than a shoe. Wear 'em around your neck on a chain like Flava Flav. The market for stolen cell phones will crash overnight.

  2. Us residents of Lakeview need to find our dignity and get ANGRY. We need to start organizing groups to confront these assholes ON THE STREET. We see the assholes causing problems, we confront them. If they start a fight with us, we beat the crap out of them. Once a few of these a-holes get a few teeth knocked out, they will stop coming here.

  3. ^It ain't gonna happen. You've got the bar-biz peeps protecting tomorrows $.

Chicago is the weakest place I've ever been on this entire earth. I can't wait to read about it 4 years from now.

  4. Chicago will still be the same in 4 years. you idiots act like we are living in mad max times. yea there is crime, just like there is anywhere else. I'm not gonna run around Lakeview with a pitchfork just cause someone got robbed. ccw won't change anything either, and I'm a huge supporter of firearms to begin with.

  5. @11:11pm, love this idea.

  6. Posting that Chicago needs CCW should also be backed up with calling your state representatives and telling them you want the same God given rights that law abiding citizens in 49 other states enjoy, and that would be the right to carry concealed in Illinois.

If a few Democratic state reps don't start voting for what the people want, by and large there will be groups of people voting with their feet, leaving Illinois and its high taxes and who will be around to pay the taxes for the 47% that don't?

  7. Chicago and it's cronies really became big jokes. There has been a huge exodus out of this crummy city since 2010. Grant it, any large city is going to have its share of crime, but it's the way it's handeled that makes the difference. It's almost like there's an unwritten rule that allows these thugs to get away with their crime sprees. Businesses are fleeing the city due to exorbitant corporate taxes, parking is outrageous and the overall feel of the city is just not there anymore. It's sad. As 10:35 am states, the only ones that are going to be left to support this jungle are the 47% that don't give a darn. PS Romney just speaks the truth. The truth sometimes hurts.

  8. Bottom line is you don't get what you pay for in this city with the housing costs, taxes, etc. Throw this crime on top of it and that's why you have people fleeing.

The only ones that think these violent attacks, home invasions, robberies and stabbings are "no big deal, it's a big city" are still trying to be discovered as an "artist" and can get their drugs outside of their front door rather than having to go to a REALLY bad neighborhood. It's much "cooler" than Tootyville, Missouri where they came from and they "arrived". In the meantime, until they are "discovered" or land that big movie part, service worker jobs are plentiful in Chicago.

  9. When the city becomes 100% diverse, who will be left to blame?

  10. a good samaritan followed the crooks several blocks. He was probably on the phone half the time telling 911 where he was at and the cops never came. What a shame.

  11. I agree, with annon 12:23am
So far we have two people who are willing to kick some monkey teeth in. Email me and lets start some kind of neighborhood patrol. What do we have to loose? Is this a dumb Idea? Lets put the odds completely in our favor. Lets patrol 5 or 6 deep in a van. Your gonna see these thugs every single night walking around as they seem to love this area. Its not hard to pick a fight with them as they look at all white people like complete cowards. I can promise you they will start any and all confrontations. Have a couple guys confront them and ask them what they are doing and then have a few guys on the corner ready to help out.

Forever the constant grievance & ax to grind...the continued excuses & blame game..If folks are so dissatisfied now..what will happen when funds dry up & there are no more link cards, checks, subsidized housing, etc.?The basics are paid for by taxpayers..but have to get bling bling.. Dysfunction at the junction...

  13. So your "police chief" comments on TV (love his capped teeth BTW) that "these kids, ahem, what I mean is these people are up to the age of 25 are........."

This is your problem $hitcago. Treating these 25-40 y.o. black men as "kids" (with kid gloves).

    Happy Liberalism and "diversity".

P.S. Why are the Starbucks employees all wearing black now? Is it a "mourning" thang? I watched her pick her girdle out of her black skirt while intervening and trying to dominate your gay atrist-wannabe-ness once again while Elton John does Chicago gives the "minority" employee a "review". Classy. Right in front of customers no less. Why not just wear poop on your shoulder? Wierdness beyond belief.

    Seattle? Please comment.

    1. lol you have to be the dumbest person on the internet. which Starbucks do you frequent?

I bet I could wait there and pick out which person you are. you'd be the one drooling with oatmeal all over your face, mumbling about elton john and diversity.

  14. Try working for some of the major Fortune 500 companies here in Chicago. Talk about diversity being shoved down your throat. It's so obvious that companies are getting tax incentives when they hire certain people. I wonder if it's like this in LA and NYC?

  15. I'm sure most by now have seen the latest breaking news regarding Rahm Rahm's latest scheme of raising entertainment/amusement taxes. Experts are saying that our taxes will be the highest in the nation when going out on the town. This proposed tax probably has a direct link to the the 17% pay raise Chicago public school teachers will be receiving. What a scam. I just love this city. It's so much fun to live here. NOT!

    1. You're right. Moving would be a simple solution as opposed to venting. Complaining will definitely not change anything.

    4. I do... Still in Crook County. I'm in a nice, quiet suburb. I love it!

  17. Wisconsin is looking more and more appealing every day. Unfortunately Milwaukee is already infested, and Madison is the home base for liberal hipsters (probably because the population is less than 2% black). Green Bay might be the best option, but would need to make sure to get a CCW thats designed for antarctic temperatures...

  19. MY solutions

1.Roomney 2012, He will cut HUD. Everyone write Congress and tell them to cut CUT THE HUD BUDGET SO THAT THERE IS ONLY ENOUGH FOR THE DISABLED,ELDERLY, AND VETS.
KEEP THE HOODLUMS IN THE GHETTO AND OUT OF OUR NICE AREAS.

    2. RACIAL PROFILE GHETTO LOOKING people(we all know who they are). FOR EXAMPLE WHAT IS THE SAAGGGY PANTS HOODLUM DOING HANGING AROUND STARBUCKS IT DOESN'T ACCEPT LINK CARDS.

STOP THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. TELL THE POLICE TO HARASS THESE CREATURES AND CALL THE POLICE ON THEM SAYING "THEY ARE SELLING DRUGS". LETS MAKE THEM SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO VISIT OUR AREAS. WHY DO YOU THINK MT.GREENWOOD/BEVERLY HAS SUCH LOW CRIME(actually lower than north) for an area THATS SURROUNDED BY THE EPICENTER OF GHETTOS? THEY DON'T VENTURE INTO THESE AREAS INSTEAD THEY TRAVEL NORTH TO THE POLITICALY CORECT WEAK LIBERALS.

    2. Beautiful suburb! You can get away from the unwashed masses by making sure the area you decide to live in has few apartments. Also, make sure to investigate the area's demographics.

  21. We have become so politically correct that we are becoming a nation with no values or boundaries in fear of offending some. We look the other way and deny what our eyes see. We need to peacefully stand up for what we believe in and to never forget what this country stands for. It seems that many people out there (liberals) applaud bad behavior and in some cases encourage it. As one comment states, we can't escape from section 8, which is true, but we really need to curve the amount of people that are on it. I believe in helping the less fortunate, but there are those who abuse the system and depend on the government to support their way of life. Cut them off after their third illegitimate child and start putting some of the responsibility back on their shoulders. Maybe then they'll learn to close their legs.

  23. Any opinions on SLC?

  24. Just because you don't have section 8 now, doesn't mean you won't have it in the future. Landlords don't care and are getting desperate.

What young person wants to live in a sleepy boring burb for older people. I work in glencoe but I wouldn't live there.
