Teen shot in the neck in Rogers Park

A shooting victim, described as an 18-year-old male, was shot in the neck in Chicago’s Far North Side Rogers Park neighborhood.

The injured teenager was discovered on a front porch on the 1900 block of West Chase Avenue, between Damen and Wolcott, around 7:40 p.m.

However, authorities said the shooting actually occurred at the intersection of Damen and Rogers - where police found blood evidence.

After the gunfire, witnesses saw a black male wearing a white shirt and black shorts running away from the crime scene.

The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, in unknown condition.

  1. I attended Loyola in the 70s. Rogers Park was always a pleasant safe place then. One could walk alone at all hours and feel completely safe. Those days are long gone.

  2. In the 80s, I had friends who lived in Rogers Park. Back then, it was a beautiful, friendly neighborhood. In my opinion, certain sections had a suburban feel to it.

Now, Rogers Park is more dangerous than some South Side communities.

  3. True.
Back in those days, Rogers Park was still relatively sheltered while the Lake View (019th), Uptown and Edgewater (020th) communities were experiencing high-crime rates.

As those areas gentrified, the lower socio-economic populations moved north.

This demonstrates why each and every community must proactively respond to crime while aggressively preserving affordable housing for economically marginalized populations.

  4. I've lived in Chicago 7+ years and hear over and over and over and over about what this or that "used to be". Detroit "used to be" too. Really, it's beyond tiring. I really wonder what Chicago and Detroit were like back in their glory but you sound like a bunch of old ladies.

  8. And how about this... turns out he wasn't shot. Stabbed maybe, cut somehow, but not SHOT. Not another statistic, no matter how much this blog and every other "news" blog or outlet want it to be a shooting, it wasn't. Do your fcking homework or remove the word "news". How about some honesty on line, call it "Chicago Nggr Report, helping feed ignorant white peoples fears since 2011".

  9. 8:27 AM, would you like to be stabbed or shot? Most people prefer neither. Try some empathy (or sympathy) sometime.
