Alleged attempted sexual assault at Edgewater high rise

Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman inside a North Side, Edgewater apartment building.

Around 3:42 a.m., a man broke into a woman’s apartment at 6151 North Winthrop Avenue, near Winthrop and Granville, said police.

The offender was described as a shirtless Hispanic male wearing a pair of black shorts and a mask.

One officer said the alleged, would-be rapist was possibly wearing a scuba mask.

At the time of this report, few details were available… however, it appears there were signs of forced entry at the victim’s apartment.
