A woman leaving a North Side train station was ambushed by a thief who covered her eyes during a robbery, said police.
Around 9 p.m., a woman was robbed near the intersection of North Lakewood and West Newport Avenues in Chicago’s North Side, Lakeview neighborhood, said police.
The woman had just left a nearby CTA train station when a male black suspect wearing a red and black hat ran up behind her, put his hands over her eyes, and stole her iPhone, said police.
The thief, who was in the company of a female whose race was not specified, is believed to be in his 20s and approximately 6-feet-tall, said police.
As of 9:32 p.m., authorities were still looking for the suspect.
UPDATE: Despite the initial report that the mugger covered the woman's eyes, the Tribune is reporting that robber covered the woman's mouth.
