Michigan Ave. Jewelry store burglarized

Authorities are investigating an early morning break-in at a Magnificent Mile retailer.

Some time around 8:30 a.m., someone broke into the OMEGA Boutique at 909 North Michigan Avenue, located inside The Westin hotel, said police.

Prior to committing the crime, the offender drove around the block several times before breaking into the North Michigan Avenue jewelry store, said authorities.

According to investigators, a CTA bus’ camera may have captured the getaway car on tape.

No further details are available.

    They have the whole storefront covered so you can't see in. Noticed from the bus. Something really bad must have happened. Certainly can't let the tourists see that can we?

    Maybe the guy was picking up a Valentine's Day present and didn't realize the store was closed.

    Shopping for valentines day definitely sucks, but is it really neccesarry to rob an ENTIRE store?

    He must have a lot of babby-mama's...

    It appears the burglary may have happened a lot earlier than I thought. Witnesses reportedly saw the getaway car leaving the scene are 7:21 a.m.

    To Urban Story - The author may have used "tape" in the same manner that I "tape" programs on my Comcast DVR - I'm not really using analog tape technology, it's just a term for "recording."

    But I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. IDK what technology is used to record activity on CTA busses, and sometimes, I wonder if there really is any recording going on, or just a visible camera to act as a deterrent.

    Those cameras are always seem to be conveniently "malfunctioning at that time" too.
