A man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in the head in Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood, said police.
Starting around 6:30 p.m., several 911 calls reported gunshots in the vicinity of the 6300 block of South Hermitage Avenue and the 6400 block of South Paulina Street, said authorities.
Shortly thereafter, another 911 caller indicated a man was shot in the head.
When police arrived on the scene, they scoured the area looking for the victim, but the injured man was nowhere to be found.
At 6:43 p.m., authorities were notified that a male shooting victim was at Holy Cross Hospital, 2701 West 68th Street.
The victim was shot in the head and the bullet “went through and through”, said police.
Investigators said the victim was standing on a porch on the 6400 block of South Paulina Street when shots rang out.
Apparently, a citizen drove the victim to the hospital.
Police went back to where the victim said the shooting occurred, but they couldn't find any evidence of a crime scene, said authorities.
At the time of this report, the victim, who was said to be alert and conscious, was fully cooperating with police.
Despite the seriousness of the description of his injuries, police said the man is expected to live
Preliminary information suggests the shooters are three male blacks, 15 to 17-years-old, in all black clothing.
