A gun was shoved against a motorist’s head during a Friday afternoon carjacking in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood, said police.
The vehicular hijacking happened around 4:46 p.m. on the 4300 block of North Kimball Avenue, near Kimball and Pensacola, said police.
The offenders were described as a male black and a male Hispanic.
Investigators said the black suspect was wearing a gray sweater and the Hispanic suspect was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
The carjackers stole a red, 1997 Chevy Astro Van with tinted windows and black rims, said authorities.
The stolen vehicle, which may have front and rear bumper damage, was last seen going southbound on Kimball, then westbound on Cullom Avenue.

I used to live in AP, glad I left. I can't believe this happened in the early evening! I lived steps from the first homocide of 2012 that happened last week. This neighborhood has taken a turn for the worst!
ReplyDeleteThat neighborhood is another one that has completely gone to sh!t. I just can't believe this happened in broad twilight, right near the rush hour. And you would think that such a conspicuous looking vehicle (and the owner should also be able to ID his own plates) would be pretty easy to locate.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like a ghettoized '97 Astro van with rims & blacked out windows can move that quickly, especially at 5 pm on a Friday. Based on the description of the van, and the area of this incident, I almost wonder if this vehicle was targeted by the robbers for something other than a free ride.
