A citywide 10-1, officer distress call, was issued after a man presumed to be an off-duty Chicago police officer was involved in an alleged brawl at a Near West Side bar.
Thursday, around 12:17 a.m., police cars flooded the street in front of the Cobra Lounge at 235 North Ashland Avenue, near Ashland and Fulton.
According to initial police dispatch reports, an off-duty cop was being surrounded by several men outside the nightclub.
A Chicago cabdriver reported the incident to 911.
When authorities arrived they discovered the off-duty cop was really a military police officer.
A responding officer said the altercation stemmed from a “bar fight”.
No injuries or arrests were reported.
