Texas mom denied food stamps, commits suicide, shoots children
A Laredo, Texas woman who recently moved from Ohio, shot herself and her two children after she was reportedly denied food stamps.
According to various news report, 38-year-old Rachelle Grimmer shot her 10-year-old son, Timothy, and her 12-year-old daughter, Ramie, Monday at a local Texas Health and Human Services office.
After doing the unthinkable, Grimmer apparently committed suicide.
At the time of this report, Timothy and Ramie were listed in critical condition.
Prior to the shooting, Grimmer allegedly took a male supervisor hostage, but negotiators convinced the distraught mother to let the supervisor go.
Stephanie Good, a Texas Department of Health and Human Services spokeswoman, said Grimmer applied for food stamps in July, but her benefits were denied because she didn't turn in enough information.
Chicago News Report reached out to someone who was identified as the children's grandmother. We are still waiting for a response.

Horrible. In her twisted mind, at the point the children were no longer making money, did she dispose of them? Or, did she do the most humane thing she could think of at the time? Either way, they are alive and they will have to live with this, which is neither humane or a solution. Adoption? So sad.
ReplyDeleteIf these motherfuckers would just realize how easy it is to start a small sustenance farm they could live for eternity.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many empty lots....community organizers should get greenhouses donated, some dirt and some seeds and these fucks could can their food and get off the government wagon.
Wake up! A 20x100' greenhouse can support alot of families. For crying out loud, you can run a shrimp farm out of one. Bottled tap water...jeezus what the fuck already.
“I currently have in my backyard, a facility that I designed and built myself, that is capable of producing about 2000 pounds of tilapia per year. That is over 38 pounds of fish per week!
ReplyDelete“These are the 500 gallon pools; the big 5000 gallon tank and the 400 gallon ‘catch of the day’ tank are on the other side of the storage sheds. Check out the tomato plants on the left, the fruit bearing banana in the center, and the papaya right in front of it. What you don’t see are the red onions, the pineapple, the chilli peppers, the red and green bell peppers, the thyme, parsley, greek oregano, sugar cane, and cilantro plants. Outside I have Mandarin oranges, Valencia oranges, grapefruit, Japanese plum, cassava (yuca), and blackberry plants.”
I think you people forget as a society we reward single mothers for having children. Free housing, health care almost unlimited sympathy from the judge, free daycare, and yes of course free food.
ReplyDeleteI can go on and on and it's a scam. When men as a majority get put out of work and expected to deal and put up with it revolution
WIN for the taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteYou guys shouldn't assume that someone is scamming the system and wants to be on public assistance. You have to consider the fact that many people are losing their jobs in this economy. Some people are having difficulty finding a job and unemployment has run out. They may not have family to help, they may not know where to turn. When someone does not have food, there is no telling to what degree they will do something. Some may steal, some may beg, and some may unfortunately do what she did. If you have not gone hungry, you would not understand. They should have provided a list of food pantries but you know, they do not think to give listings to people and it already takes about a month or so to get food stamps. People who feel no hope don't always think.
ReplyDelete@11:17 - hardly a win, there are two disabled kids who will likely be drawing gov't assistance for the rest of their lives, even if adopted, to pay for their long term care.
ReplyDeleteSadly, the girl died today. How very tragic.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a horribly tragic story. I read the little girl's Facebook page. Hours before the shooting, she was just a another kid posting random things online... and now this. Heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteThe son, timothy has since died, also.
ReplyDeleteOMG! That's so terrible:(
ReplyDeletePeople need to learn from this and see where you can end-up, surrounded by a bunch of blacks and mexicans who determine whether or not you get food stamps. At the time of this incident, this deranged woman must have realized she and her kids were immersed in a social hell.
ReplyDeleteLook at the news coverage what is this an ESL station? Looked more like a high school journalism class than network correspondence. Jeez. What a cesspool the heartland of america has become.
ReplyDeleteTragic, extremely tragic. This should give Texas Health and HUMAN SERVICES, something to consider the next time a family is in need and does not have all the required documents.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact Texas Health and Human Services should be held accountable for contributing to this families demise.
In response to Belinda Muhammad: You wrote, "As a matter of fact Texas Health and Human Services should be held accountable for contributing to this families demise."
ReplyDeleteThat's a really freaking huge leap to take. You really feel that the STATE is responsible for her suicide? C'mon, grow up. Unless you want a nanny state in which everybody is promised ice cream cones & puppy dogs from the government, you really need to think about what you stated on here.
Obviously this woman had a lot of issues, whether mental, physical, financial, and/or some combination. But how is it the government's responsiblity to see that she isn't a complete failure?
My success, or my failure, are up to me & me alone. Just as I don't want the government stepping in to "make me" a success, it is not the government's responsiblity to make sure I don't end up a total loser or worse.
