"Starting today, Sun-Times Media newspaper websites will offer an online subscription plan for those seeking unlimited access to all our sites.
Website users will get 20 free page views at any Sun-Times-affiliated site every 30 days, but will be required to buy an online subscription for additional access. Visits to newspaper homepages and section fronts — such as the pages that index the top news and sports stories — won’t count toward the 20 pages. Advertising-based sections will remain free, such as cars, real estate and death notices.
Online subscriptions will be $1.99 per four weeks for home-delivery customers. Digital-only subscribers will be charged $6.99 every four weeks, or they can pay $77.87 for yearlong access."

I see a lot of people saying 'bye' but I have no intention of leaving.
I intend to use up my 20 free posts and then go to your competitor or somewhere else where the same news is free.
You'll not get a penny from me to read news online that i can get for free from Yahoo, MSN, Google, AOL, Bing, etc.
I tend to like the Sun-Times rather then the Trib and their "spin" on everything but I wouldn't pay a nickel. I don't see their reasoning that if you have a paper subscription, you get to read online too but at a discount. I mean if you're still reading the paper version, if you're submitting any comments, it's probably by letter & stamp or pony express.

Wow this will be a miserable failure. I already avoid the sun times/trib/TV news sites. Definitely won't be paying for their hoseshit PC version of events. I go there so infrequently, 20 per month will be more than i need...

ReplyDeleteThe Sun's online commentators to various stories are breathtakingly stupid and write as if they've only had fourth grade educations. That's one bit of news I learned from the online Sun, that there are all these really retarded people out there and they live amongst us.

ReplyDeleteOh for christ's sake, you clean out your browser cookies and cache, and continue to read your 20+ articles. The NYT "subscription" works the same way. It's a pain in the ass, esp. if you want to log in and comment on everything, but it's easy to to circumvent.
