According to the Occupy Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) Facebook page, pink slips and letters of demotion were passed out to 911 operators on Friday, December 16, 2011.
Occupy OEMC:
"Cuts have been made to the front line of defense in Chicago.
911 Operators answer and dispatch equipment to any Police, Fire and EMS emergency and these cuts will effect the normal daily functions for emergency responses.
Manpower shortages will lead to longer wait times for someone to answer an emergency call, which may lead to increased response times.
Without these trained personnel available to answer the phones, the citizens of Chicago should be prepared for severe changes in the 911 experience."

Yet, we had to give Sears and CME huge tax cuts. Screw the little people who will have to wait longer for the police to get to us while some ghetto thug robs and rapes us. Let the city burn is Rahm Emanuel's motto apparently.
ReplyDeleteI called 2 years ago when 20 of those "transient youth" were bloodying each other to death and blocking traffic at Halsted/Belmont and 911 rang - 12 - times. Your city is doomed.
ReplyDeleteWhy is this not published in the Suntimes or Tribune? They do not want people to know how bad it is...come May, we are screwed.
ReplyDeleteIt's not in the Sun or Trib because they are in the business of making money, not keeping us informed.
ReplyDeleteI posted the same comment re: "12 rings" on the Red Eye online comments. It was deleted and in an article I read a week later (don't remember if it was the Trib or Redeye or.....) they said "if they don't answer, keep trying". I'm serious.
ReplyDeleteNo, they "do not want people to know how bad it is" because there's a $ involved.....somewhere.
You people are screwed royally. I'm so glad I did my due diligence and decided to rent before buying. So glad.
How much do we pay each month on our phone bill to keep the 911 system running? Where is this money going, Rahm Emmanuel? Oh wait, I think someone is going to Chile for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteMore like give EBT Cards and Welfare for 'da community' which is driving us bankrupt. Giving Government jobs to "da community" which causes shit loads of problems.
ReplyDeleteI am so sick of the 1% taking more and screwing us in the ass. Of course they don't have to worry about 911 because they have their own security to protect them and theirs. Maybe a good guillotine to some of these rich bastards would help!
ReplyDeleteMost 911 calls are about niggers killing each other anyway so let them have at it.
ReplyDeleteHow does layoffs=savings? does this administration know anything? They've been FORCING OVERTIME at the OEMC for a decade. there are people who are making their salary in overtime... if they just hired more people they'd actually SAVE money
ReplyDeleteMy biggest fear is when you call 911 for a medical emergency and your loved one is dying..From my understanding Chicago is one of the cities with the lowest fire insurance rates due to the quick response our city has on fires. Homeowners insurance will go up after this happens ..
ReplyDeleteCaller: Please hurry, someone is being killed!
ReplyDelete911: (Recording): Due to budget cuts, no one is available to take your call at this time. However, if someone had been available to take your call, they would not have been able to send a police officer anyway due to budget cuts there, also.
