Geneva Cage of Chicago’s West Englewood neighborhood is in favor of longer school days for Chicago Public School students.
When the South Side resident was asked what she thought about Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plan to lengthen the school hours for CPS students, Cage made it clear she is on the mayor’s side.
“I’m totally in agreement with it. That’ll keep the kids out of the streets. Most parents don’t know where their kids are at. At least for that 90 minutes they will know they are in school, said Cage.
“It’s not for the police to raise your child; it’s not for Rahm Emanuel to raise to him; it has to start from home,” continued the concerned mother of one.
On the other hand, West Englewood resident Joanne Hill is willing to go along with the mayor's plan if he makes a few changes.
“They shouldn’t stay for longer periods if they are not going to adjust the way that they teach. The teachers need to individualize their students by knowing what they can do and what they can’t do, and devise a program that will aid them to be the best that they can be,” said Hill.
She looks like Benita Butrell from In Living Colour (rollers and all)......"but I'm not the type to gossip, so you ain't heard it from me, oh no you haven't".
ReplyDeleteBut the kids here "get out of school at 1:30, 2:00?" Are they going to a work/school program after that? And teachers are making how much? And the kids aren't being educated? What time do they start? So "school is a a prison"? They're being "institionalized"?
Sincerely though, I hope they can work something out but with adults that have no shame in even being seen in front of a camera like that.........
I wonder how much in taxes these grungy looking women pay? They look like welfare recipients opining on how best the school system can serve them or the other welfare collectors of the neighborhood.
