Around 11:51 a.m., an off-duty Chicago police officer reported a teenage boy for firing a gun in the air on the 6700 block of South Hermitage Avenue in West Englewood.
The off-duty cop said the boy fired at least 10 shots.
Five minutes later, the teen’s mother dialed 911 from the 6400 block of South Paulina.
According to police dispatch, the boy’s mother said her son threatened to shoot her.
Before police arrived, the teen fled his mother’s home on foot.
Investigators believed the young gunman was headed to a cousin’s house on the 6300 block of South Marshfield.
A responding officer said the boy has ties to a local street gang and he is currently involved in a gang-related conflict.
As of 12:27 p.m., there was no indication authorities made contact with the offender.
So easy for these bangers to get guns and use them, knowing the chances of them getting caught are pretty slim. And how lacking in moral conscience is this punk to point a weapon at his mother? It's only a matter of time before he kills/shoots someone. She needs to turn his sorry ass in IF and WHEN he comes back to the roost. It might be the best thing she could do for him to keep him and his next victim alive.
ReplyDeleteT., this kid is dangerous and appears to be mentally unstable. If he's not already wanted for murder, he probably will be.
ReplyDeleteAnd hopefully, it won't be his mother that becomes his victim. Though I think she already is, even though he hasn't shot her. She really needs to give the police all she knows about him so they can get him off the street and her out of danger.
ReplyDeleteMentally unstable? That's a bad thing to be in a city where a gun is far easier to get and more affordable than mental health care.
ReplyDelete....or a can of spray paint (which you have to get out in the suburbs). Very backward city.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't describe him. Is this honor roll student black by any chance?
ReplyDelete7:48 - 98% says he's black.
ReplyDelete@Benn: "Mentally unstable? That's a bad thing to be in a city where a gun is far easier to get and more affordable than mental health care."
ReplyDeleteFYI: There are hundreds of places in the city for free mental health. These section 8, welfare recipients and the like get EVERYTHING for free.
4:39 There is not hundreds of places in the city for free mental health. At Stroger you have to wait 6months to see a psychiatrist. They have closed down many of the "sliding scale fee" mental health clinics in this city.
ReplyDeleteTo yesterday's poster about race -
ReplyDeleteAccording to the city's stats, there is a 98.33% chance that he is black (1,237 of 1,258 students self-reported as "black"). But it could be as high as 99.44% (14 students self-reported as "mixed." The other 7 students? 2 white, 2 native american, 3 hispanic).
So there is your answer!
