North Side overnight robbery, attempted robbery

Early Monday morning, at least two people were victimized by thieves on Chicago’s North Side.

The first incident occurred around 1:36 a.m. in the Boystown, Lakeview neighborhood at the corner of Halsted and Buckingham.

Police said two male blacks, believed to be in their 20s, attacked a man and tried to steal his iPhone.

One offender has dreadlocks and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He is about 5'10" and 170 pounds.

The second suspect was wearing a black ski jacket with white letters on it. He is also 5'10", but he weighs approximately 200 pounds.

After the attempted robbery, both suspects fled westbound on Buckingham Place.

Farther north, in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, a man was robbed at knifepoint.

The armed robbery happened around 2:50 a.m., near the corner of Leland and Clarendon Avenues, just steps away from Weiss Memorial Hospital, said police.

A male black with a thin build and a slight mustache, approached victim with a knife and snatched the victim's gym bag, said police.

The offender is about 5'6" and was wearing a green jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath. The hood of the sweatshirt was pulled over the offender's head.

At the time of this report, police were still investigating both crimes.

  1. Thanks for reporting this stuff, Timothy, as otherwise nobody would ever know. You can inquire about bloodshed with your "friendly" bartender and they'll even cross their arms and stick their nose in the air (but we know why). I forgive them now though as they're just disgusted that "here's another one that figured it out". On the other hand, those businesses have a responsibility in this too. The largest responsibility in my opinion.

So Sunday early evening 7:00 p.m. or so, there's a group of very, very loud and rowdy young black males pretty much marching down the sidewalk near Halsted/Roscoe. Disruptive, about 8 of them. Yelling something very loudly. Again, like they were on some type of protest march. Menacing behavior and obviously looking for confrontation. Then they're over on Broadway. As long as that type of behavior is tolerated, unchecked, there will be no end in site to the problems and violence in that area. I won't be visiting again.

No I didn't call the police. I have before and discovered it's not even worth your time. Just staying home or going elsewhere is the answer.

  2. I am so sick of people calling me racist for being sick of this kind of crap (anon @9:30am), for some reason this behavior is excusable because the perpetrators are a different color than me.
If you want to change my mind, black people, how about dressing in respectable clothing, correct your horrendous patois, walk like a human being and not limp around holding your genitals, and start making real music again like jazz and funk again instead of this horrendous rap sh*t that needs to go away yesterday. Oh, and stop robbing the hell out of everything and everyone in the city.
I want you to change my mind about you. Are you up to the challenge?

  4. So, additionally to my a.m. post.......you know to stay away from one of them alone when they're walking in that zig/zag fashion, hitting both sides of the sidewalk with every other step (obviously thwarting a direct hit) AND always looking behind them. It's so f'ing obvious there's potential trouble coming it's almost comical - the blacks here that is.

I've never done it before but a guy from another country I was chatting with was visiting the Cadillac of clubs there tonight and asked if I was going. I told him I was definitely not going to that area, about what was going on and to be careful. Cab it, if even a couple of blocks. He replied "thanks for the tip".

Sincerely, it's just not worth it.
