Georgia executes Troy Davis
42-year-old Troy Davis is dead by way of lethal injection.
Despite several attempts to save his life, the state of Georgia executed the 42-year-old man for the 1989 shooting death of off-duty police officer, Mark McPhail.
Moments before the convicted cop killer drew his last breath, he denied murdering the Savannah, Georgia police officer and urged his supporters to keep "fighting" for the truth.
Davis was declared dead at 11:08 p.m., said WSBTV.com, an Atlanta news station.
According to the Associated Press, these were Davis' final words:
"I'd like to address the MacPhail family. Let you know, despite the situation you are in, I'm not the one who personally killed your son, your father, your brother. I am innocent.
The incident that happened that night is not my fault. I did not have a gun. All I can ask ... is that you look deeper into this case so that you really can finally see the truth.
I ask my family and friends to continue to fight this fight.
For those about to take my life, God have mercy on your souls.
And may God bless your souls."
Reverend Al Sharpton reacts to Davis' death on Twitter:
"This is a sad sad day. We must fight through our tears and CHANGE these draconian death penalty laws. I promised Troy," said Sharpton.

Read about this on USA Today. He had numerous insecurity incidents with a gun. So the point is?...........
ReplyDeleteThe way I understand it is that EVERYONE in prison is innocent. I believe in the death penalty. We should not have to support these evil people for the rest of their lives. It's bad enough we support them on the outside. If all that evidence was presented to all those courts in appeals and they ALL turned down a stay, that tells me there's stuff in those appeals that said he did it. He spend so much time on death row that he convinced himself he was innocent. Liars believe their own lies.
ReplyDeleteThat Brewer guy they executed in Texas for that Jasper murder should have had the same thing done to him that he did to that poor man. He got off easy with the needle!
That kid that ran over that black man needs to die as well...maybe the same way.
Now, what to do about ghetto thugs?????
I think it's important to add that seven of the nine witnesses recanted their testimony and also that other witnesses came forward and gave the name of the REAL murderer.
ReplyDelete"Since then seven out of the nine key witnesses who implicated him have recanted their evidence, several saying they were cajoled by police into giving false eye-witness statements.
Another 10 have come forward to point the finger at a separate man present at the scene of the murder, Sylvester Coles." - The Guardian\
His execution was a terrible injustice.
When Andrea the question is where the witnesses lying then or lying now? See how people lying can cloud the issue?
ReplyDelete20 yrs as a US Marshall working in the Fugitive Task Force, your are correct Towanda, there all innocent. Also the comment about people recanted, what was there truth & what is their lie??
ReplyDeletehe world is getting crazy! No respect for he law, men & women with GUNS & Badges! What fear do they have of all you civilians!! There was a time when I was off duty I never carried my weapon, now I always have it on me, when I walk around mt neighborhood in Edgewater or any where in Chicago I am armed!
