Random police calls: 06/24/2011
The following police calls were made June 24, 2011.
9:20 p.m. - Criminal property damage was reported at Bell Elementary School, 3730 North Oakley Avenue.
According to a 911 caller, four male white teens, believed to be 15-years-old, removed an air-conditioning unit and were dragging it around the schoolyard.

10:10 p.m. - Police were called to Osterman Beach, 5800 North Lake Shore Drive, near Lake Shore Drive and Hollywood.
A group was gathered at the beach for the Chicago Park District's "Movies In The Park".
Several men were being disruptive by yelling and cursing, said a 911 caller.
According to the Chicago Park District's website, the audience was watching the movie, "Rent".
Police returned to the beach at 11:48 p.m.
A man reportedly fell unconscious and needed medical attention.

10:45 p.m. - A shoplifter hit an Edgewater neighborhood Dominick's Finer Food Store at 6009 North Broadway Street.
The thief, a black man wearing a black and white shirt, stole a bottle of liquor.

10:55 p.m. - A huge fight was reported in Lakeview.
Police cars swarmed the 3400 block of North Halsted Street, near Halsted and Roscoe.
According to an officer at the scene, the atmosphere was "heavy". There was lot of screaming in background, as the officer made the announcement.
Back up units were requested at 10:57 p.m.
Moments later, the situation was said to be under control.
No further details are available.

10:59 p.m. - Shootings were reported on the 7200 block of North Greenview Avenue, near Greenview and Touhy.
Alleged gunshots were also heard near the intersections of Ashland and Estes, and Sheridan and Howard.
Authorities said the shots were actually fireworks.

11:31 p.m. - A motorist reportedly pulled a gun on a clerk at a Lakeview gas station.
The incident occurred at the Mobil Exxon station at 3901 North Broadway Street, said police.
The alleged gunman fled the scene in a white car. Police were also given the vehicle's license plate information.
Authorities stopped a car matching the offending vehicle's description at 3611 North Pine Grove.
At the time of this report, officers were searching the driver and the vehicle for weapons.
It's unclear if any arrests were made.

11:53 p.m. - Several people were stuck in an elevator in an Uptown neighbor apartment building, said police.
Approximately ten people were trapped in an elevator at 846 West Montrose Avenue, said police.
According to one source, the people tried to call 911, but couldn't get through.
It's unclear who finally notified the police.
