The shooting occurred on the 4400 block of North Monticello Avenue, said police.
The victim was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, 836 West Wellington Avenue, in serious condition.
It’s unclear if the man was shot while sitting in a vehicle, but police were guarding a red minivan near Illinois Masonic Hospital, at 3040 North Wilton Avenue, around 2 a.m.
Authorities referred to the van as a crime scene.
